Get to know me

RORY

As a psychotherapist (LMHC) based New York City, I've had the privilege of guiding patients through growth for many years.

In our work together, I'm deeply committed to fostering a therapeutic environment where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore your innermost thoughts and emotions. I believe that the most profound healing occurs within the context of a trusting and collaborative relationship, and I'm honored to walk alongside you on your journey towards greater self-discovery and well-being.

Our work together will be dynamic, evolving as you change. I'll offer curiosity, new ideas, and therapeutic techniques to help you navigate your experiences, while also drawing from the wisdom and strength you already possess. Together, we'll explore the complexities of your inner world, cultivate self-compassion and resilience, and unlock your potential for profound growth and transformation.

My path to therapy began with a deep curiosity about human connection and sexuality, leading me to pursue graduate degrees from Hofstra University and New York University. Alongside my academic pursuits, I've served as an academic lecturer at the university level in LGBTQ+ studies and human sexuality, further enriching my understanding of diverse experiences and identities..

Some of the theories that influence my work..

In my practice, achieving wellness is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. I prioritize the creation of an empathetic yet challenging environment where you feel both accepted and able to confront what has brought you to therapy in the first place . Here is the theoretical framework in which my work is informed by:

Attachment Theory: We will explore how your early experiences with caregivers influence your relationships today. By understanding your attachment style and how past experiences impact your current emotions and relationships, we can identify patterns that may be holding you back from personal growth and fulfillment.

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP): We will focus on processing your emotions in the present moment. AEDP emphasizes accessing and addressing emotions as they arise, creating a space within our sessions to explore and understand deep-seated emotions and responses. By working through these emotions together, we can pave the way for transformative healing and growth.

Internal Family Systems (IFS): We will explore the different parts of your psyche, each with its own beliefs, emotions, and motivations. By identifying and understanding these internal parts and how they interact within you, we can promote greater self-awareness, integration, and alignment with your core values and goals. This process empowers you to make meaningful changes in your life by understanding and addressing internal conflicts and barriers.
